Present Football Helmets

The football helmet that most football players use today is the Riddell Revolution helmet. Other helmets currently used are the Schutt DNA and the Xenith helmets. They do a pretty good job of protecting players from concussion, but they don't prevent all concussions. The Xenith helmets contain shock absorbers inside the helmet as shown above. The shock absorbers help absorb part of the imapct that a player's head takes. The Riddell Revolution has strong inflatable padding that is tight on the head. The Schutt DNA helmet uses SKYDEX to help absorb the impact.  SKYDEX consists of many small hemispheres of plastic that compress to absorb the energy of the hit. This also help the head not absorb all of the impact of the hit. The helmets that we have right now are good, but they can be better.
