Future Football Helmet and Technology Needed

Football Helmet of the Future Joined to the Shoulder Pads Using Special Joints

In the future, helmets will need to be attached to the shoulder pads to help prevent concussion from the whip lash affect from occurring. The whip lash affect is one of the biggest ways how people get concussions from playing football (when the neck jerk causing the brain to bang against the skull.). This will require the development of a special joint that allows the head to rotate but the joint will lock whenever an impact is sensed to prevent any further movement.  Another thing that the football helmets of the future will have to have in order to keep players safe is more padding around the head of the person. The helmets hitting too hard is the other main reason that players get concussions. If you improve the shock absorption of the padding on both the inside and outside of the helmet that will help reduce concussions as well.  In the future helmets will also have an MRI type technology to monitor the brain and make sure no injuries have been sustained.  This will require a lot of development since currently an MRI takes up almost a whole room.
